    The Soft Tissue Course

    Soft Tissue Management Around Teeth and Implants

    Information

    • The Soft Tissue Course is focused for dentists who wish to offer, or are currently offering, soft tissue procedures around teeth and dental implants. It will cover the fundamental theory and case selection/planning as well as a significant hands-on programme allowing delegates to develop skills in basic soft tissue procedures as well as more advanced and technically challenging techniques using the latest instruments.

      There will be four hands on sessions throughout the two-day course including multiple pigs heads sessions to ensure reproducibility to clinical application. The course is taught by three specialists (Dr Devan S Raindi, Dr Reena Wadia and Dr Jay Parmar) who have a wealth of experience managing soft tissue challenges around teeth and dental implants. This also allows for an optimal ratio of delegates to instructors.

      No prior reading material is required and a workbook will be provided as part of the course for note-taking and case planning.

    Details

    Participants will gain detailed knowledge on the clinically relevant anatomy required to carry out mucogingival procedures around teeth and implants. They will understand the indications and contraindications for a variety of different techniques including pedicle flaps and tunnelling approaches. Harvesting of free gingival grafts and connective tissue grafts will be covered in detail.

    DAY ONE (9:30 – 17:30)

    The Fundamentals of Soft Tissue Grafting

    Theory:

    • Clinically Relevant Soft Tissue Anatomy
    • The Free Gingival Graft
    • Introduction to Advanced Soft Tissue Techniques

    Hands-On:

    • Microsurgical Instruments and Suturing
    • Pigs Heads Practical

    DAY TWO (9:00 – 17:30)

    Advanced Soft Tissue Grafting Techniques

    Theory:

    • Combined Restorative/Surgical Approaches
    • The Lateral Positioned Flap
    • Alternative tunnel based techniques

    Hands-On:

    • The Coronally Advanced Flap and its Variations
    • The Tunnelling Technique and its Variations
    • Pigs Heads Practical

    CPD: 16.5 hours
