A two-day restorative dentistry masterclass designed for international dentists seeking greater precision, deeper clinical understanding, and a more thoughtful approach to direct restorative treatment.
Learn directly from two distinguished Japanese clinicians through lectures, live demonstrations, and intensive hands-on workshops—with full professional English interpretation throughout the entire program.
About TAKUMI
True restoration is not merely a clinical procedure.
It is a continuous dialogue between observation, biology, restorative materials, craftsmanship, and the natural tooth.
TAKUMI is an intensive two-day masterclass designed for international dentists who wish to explore not only how exceptional restorations are created, but why experienced clinicians make the decisions they do.
Participants experience a balanced combination of clinical lectures, live demonstrations, and hands-on exercises covering both posterior and anterior composite restorations—exploring clinical decision-making, morphology, layering, and optical behavior along the way.
This is not a large lecture-based course.
With participation intentionally limited to twenty dentists, TAKUMI creates an environment where meaningful discussion, close observation, and direct interaction with the faculty become an essential part of the educational experience.
Every lecture, demonstration, discussion, and practical session is professionally interpreted into English, allowing participants to engage naturally with the instructors while preserving the nuance of their clinical thinking.
Posterior Restorative Dentistry
The first day explores the principles behind posterior direct restorations. Rather than focusing solely on technical procedures, participants examine how experienced clinicians determine the boundary between direct and indirect treatment, analyze occlusal morphology, and reproduce functional anatomy using contemporary biomimetic composite techniques.
Through lectures, live demonstrations, and intensive hands-on exercises, participants develop a more structured approach to posterior restorative decision-making while gaining practical experience with material handling, anatomical layering, and finishing techniques.
By the end of Day One, participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how posterior restorations can achieve both functional stability and natural aesthetics.
Anterior Morphology & Composite Artistry
The second day shifts attention to anterior restorative dentistry, where morphology, light, and proportion combine to create restorations that integrate naturally with surrounding dentition.
Participants learn a systematic method for observing natural anterior teeth before attempting reproduction. Rather than copying surface anatomy, the course emphasizes understanding the relationship between morphology, optical behavior, and restorative form.
Extensive hands-on exercises allow participants to build multiple composite tooth replicas while refining their three-dimensional understanding of natural anatomy. By the conclusion of Day Two, participants will have developed a more disciplined approach to analyzing anterior teeth and translating those observations into restorative treatment.

What Will Change in Your Clinical Practice?
TAKUMI is designed to influence how you think—not only what you do.
By the end of this two-day experience, participants will return to their practices with a more deliberate and systematic approach to restorative dentistry.

Dr. Tetsuji Aoshima
For more than two decades, Dr. Aoshima has refined his approach to posterior restorative dentistry through continuous clinical practice, long-term case evaluation, and a commitment to biomimetic principles. His teaching focuses not only on how posterior composite restorations are performed, but why certain clinical decisions lead to predictable, long-lasting outcomes. Participants will learn how to evaluate the boundary between direct and indirect restorations, reconstruct functional occlusal anatomy, and develop greater control over composite layering through thoughtful material handling and precise instrumentation. Dr. Aoshima, who designed the TSURUGI Instrument System, will also introduce its clinical application in the course, demonstrating how purposeful instrument selection contributes to more accurate anatomical reproduction.
Dr. Yukihiro Koza
Dr. Koza's work centers on understanding the relationship between natural tooth morphology, optical behavior, and restorative aesthetics. His educational philosophy encourages clinicians to slow down, observe carefully, and understand the natural tooth before attempting to reproduce it. Rather than copying anatomy, participants learn to interpret it. Through repeated hands-on exercises, they develop a deeper understanding of morphology, proportion, and light, allowing restorative treatment to integrate naturally with the surrounding dentition.
Is this an official Bio-Emulation course?
No. TAKUMI is an independent educational program. Both instructors are members of the Bio-Emulation community, and the course reflects many of the restorative principles they apply in daily clinical practice.
