Synopsis
This lecture introduces modern concepts in indirect restorations, focusing on contemporary preparation designs, and current cementation protocols. It also explores clinical decision-making through real cases, including the use of digital workflows in restorative dentistry.
Aims & Objectives:
To provide students with an understanding of current principles and techniques used in indirect restorations, enabling them to understand different preparation designs, apply suitable cementation protocols, and appreciate the role of digital dentistry in contemporary clinical practice.
Learning Outcomes:Â
By the end of this lecture, students will be able to:
- Explain the principles of tooth preparation for indirect restorations.
- Compare vertical and chamfer crown preparation designs.
- Select and apply appropriate cementation protocols for different restorative materials.

Biography
- Dr Sherif Elbarbary
- BDS, MJDF RCSEng, MFDS, M Pros, FDS RCSEd, FHEA
Sherif works as a Specialist Prosthodontist and Implant Dentist in private referral practices since completing his specialist training in 2013.
Alongside private practice, Sherif is a Consultant & Senior Clinical Lecturer in Prosthodontics at Sheffield Dental School & Charles Clifford Dental Hospital where he leads the DClinDent Specialty Training Program in Prosthodontics and manages referrals for
complex restorative and implant cases.
Full Arch Implants
- Title: Success Is Not an Accident: A Repeatable Approach to Full-Arch Implants

Dr Ahmed will discuss why success in full-arch implant rehabilitation is not accidental.
Predictable outcomes are built on a deep understanding of fundamental concepts, meticulous planning, mental rehearsal, and a systematic, repeatable approach to treatment.
This presentation will explore how structured workflows help reduce uncertainty, improve decision-making, and create consistency throughout every stage of care.
Beyond the technical aspects, the mindset of the clinician and the surrounding team plays a critical role. A shared commitment to preparation, communication, accountability, and continuous improvement is often what separates good outcomes from truly exceptional ones.

Biography
Dr Ferhan Ahmed is a highly skilled implant surgeon, implant mentor , educator, and owner of Edinburgh Dental and Fame Dentistry in Glasgow – leading implant clinics in Scotlands.Dual qualified in dentistry (BDS, University of Glasgow, 2005) and medicine (MBChB, University of Liverpool, 2012), he focuses exclusively on dental implants and surgical dentistry.
His expertise includes conventional implantology, complex bone grafting, and advanced extra-maxillary procedures such as zygomatic implants. Alongside providing exceptional patient care, Dr Ahmed is passionate about education, delivering lectures internationally and mentoring dentists through his hands-on training programmes overseas.
Widely recognised for treating complex full mouth implant rehabilitation cases and supporting clinicians across the UK, Dr Ahmed is committed to advancing standards in implant dentistry.
In 2021, he published Being unstoppable – The mindset of a great clinician and in 2026 First Impressions Final Decisions sharing insights on leadership, discipline, and personal growth to help professionals achieve their full potential.

Synopsis
In this lecture, we will be discussing the most common complications encountered in Oral Surgery and how to manage them. We will also discuss management of the medically compromised patients requiring Oral Surgery.

- Recap on most common medical conditions and how they affect patient management
- Discussion of various medications that patients take for those medical conditions and how they affect your management in a dental practice.
- Discuss common complications in oral surgery
- Discuss how to avoid and manage these complications

Biography
Mr Tamer Theodossy is a Consultant Oral Surgeon with over 20 years of experience in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
He graduated with honours from the University of Jordan in 1997 and subsequently obtained a Master’s Degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with distinction from the internationally renowned Eastman Dental Institute in 2000. He also achieved
Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and was later awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Mr Theodossy completed his specialist training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at University College London Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital. Since 2006, he has held a number of Consultant appointments across the UK and currently practises as a Consultant Oral Surgeon at several leading private hospitals in London.
He is recognised by the General Dental Council (UK) as a Specialist in Oral Surgery and by the Jordanian Dental Association as a Specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
His specialist interests include orthognathic (facial deformity) surgery, minimally invasive temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery, facial trauma, and all aspects of oral surgery, including dental implant placement and bone grafting procedures. He works
closely with multidisciplinary teams of dental and medical specialists to deliver comprehensive, patient-centred care and a seamless treatment experience.
Mr Theodossy is a Fellow of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and serves as an elected Council Member of the British Association of Oral Surgeons.
He is also a member of the Jordanian Dental Association and an examiner for the Dental Specialty Fellowship Examination of the Joint Royal Colleges.
Fluent in both English and Arabic, Mr Theodossy has published extensively in national and international peer-reviewed journals. He serves as a reviewer for several leading Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery publications, including the International Journal of Oral
and Maxillofacial Surgery. In addition, he sits on the Medical Advisory Committee and chairs the Theatre User Group at The London Independent Hospital.
Demonstrating a strong commitment to education and professional development, Mr Theodossy established and delivered a free international webinar series covering a broad range of topics in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The programme achieved
significant global reach, attracting participants from more than 85 countries. Building on its success, he continues to collaborate with colleagues across multiple specialties to provide further educational events and learning opportunities.
As part of his ongoing dedication to clinical teaching and training, Mr Theodossy also leads hands-on surgical training courses designed to enhance the technical skills and confidence of early-career clinicians in oral surgery.

Biography
Miss Naseem Ghazali is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, subspecialising in Head and Neck Cancer, Head and Neck Reconstructive and Robotic Surgery at Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust, United Kingdom. She holds the Visiting Professor position at the Faculty of Dentistry at University Malaya and MAHSA University, Malaysia.
Miss Ghazali’s clinical training has seen her work in Malaysia, United Kingdom, and the United States of America. She is dual-qualified in Dentistry and Medicine from University Malaya and Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ School of Medicine, University of London, respectively. Her postgraduate academic qualifications include a Diploma of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Masters with Distinction from the Eastman’s Dental Institute University of London, and Doctorate in Medicine from University of Liverpool.
Miss Ghazali is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and Edinburgh. She spent 24 months post-FRCS as the Head and Neck Fellow at University of Maryland Medical Centre, Baltimore USA. After her Baltimore Fellowship, Miss Ghazali returned to the UK and successfully set up the Head and Neck Robotic Services at East Lancashire Hospitals, which was the first of such services in the Northwest of England. She remains one of a rare group of Maxillofacial surgeons partaking in Head and Neck Robotic Surgery in the UK.
She has published widely, through 48 peer-reviewed scientific papers and chapters in three textbooks in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and Robotic Surgery. She is regularly invited to teach and speak in her area of specialisation internationally.
Miss Ghazali is actively involved in humanitarian work. She is a member of Mercy Malaysia Emergency Medical Team responding to the Morocco earthquake in 2023. Other probono medical/surgical elective work include Head and Neck Tumours in Cambodia, and a Cleft
Mission to Kirtipur Hospital, Kathmandu. Miss Ghazali has joined the Board of Trustees of Mercy Humanitarian UK (MHUK), a UK-based nongovernmental organisation holding the Medical/Dental Relief Lead position. She currently leads the organisation’s novel Oral Health Mission, ‘Creating Lasting Smiles’, a 3-year rural oral humanitarian healthcare programme in Aghbar, Morocco.
Outside her professional domain, Miss Ghazali enjoys travelling, hiking and cycling. She partakes in furniture restoration, being proficient in French polishing.

Biography
Originally from West Yorkshire, Rizwaan is a dual qualified dentist. His first degree was in Dental Technology at Manchester University. Rizwaan has 2 years experience of working as a dental technician both in a private lab and Manchester dental hospital where he specialised in prosthodontics and implant retained dentures. Following this Rizwaan graduated in Dental Surgery from the University of Leeds. Rizwaan completed his foundation training at Hull and stayed in North Yorkshire for 4 years. In that time Rizwaan went on to win BACD Poster Prize twice for his research in Digital Occlusion and digital denture case whilst also publishing papers for fellow dentists.
Since qualifying in 2020, he has travelled all around the world, to learn from some of the best dentists and as such has developed a reputation for delivering complex dental treatment such as full mouth rehabilitation plus soft tissue moulding, full mouth smile makeovers including veneers, crowns, bonding and delivers Invisalign treatments. Rizwaan’s main area of expertise is in the field of fixed and removable prosthodontics and occlusion two topics which he has presented at various conferences around the world and has written CPDs for dentists.
Due to his background as a technician Rizwaan is able to fabricate he’s own dentures, crowns, veneers and including temporary restorations. He is now also fully able to fully 3D print he’s own temporary crowns and veneers, especially for full smile makeovers.
He currently sits on the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Committee.
Rizwaan has moved to London, to start his speciality training in Prosthodontics at the prestigious Kings College Dental School. Due to this he is now able to see patients that require complex treatment where the patients bite needs to be changed or are suffering from tooth wear.
Outside of Dentistry, Rizwaan has a keen passion for both cricket and hockey, two sports which he follows and plays. He loves his 80s music, as well as sci-fi films and novels and enjoys swimming. Furthermore, he keeps on top of facial routines and products so he can grow old gracefully.
